Rock Climbing

Nepal offers you with a cliffhanger experience. Around Nepal, there are several places where you can experience the spine-tingling sport of rock climbing. Nepal is full of wonderful, dizzying places and if you want to crawl on a vertical cliff then why not do it in Nepal. These days rock climbing has gained immense popularity among the tourists visiting Nepal.

Rock climbing spots are situated to the north and northwest of the valley. Kathmandu has a roster of stonewalls which creates a chance for you to practice and hone your skills before taking on the real thing. Nagarjun, Balaju, Shivapuri and Budhanilakantha are the best places around Kathmandu where you can climb the rock faces. Climbing trips can be incorporated with bird watching, game watching and experiencing some of the valley’s remaining wild places. Nagarjun and Shivapuri hills have some excellent cliffs for you to climb.

In Pokhara, an artificial climbing wall named after French alpinist Maurice Herzog, the first mountaineer ever to summit an 8,000 m peak – Annapurna I – in 1950, is open at the Mountaineering Museum. It is 23 m tall.

Rock Climbing is a recent addition to Nepal’s adventure activity list, which has put us on the world rock-climbing list of places to visit. Though it’s a new development in the tourist industry, actually it is not new to Nepal; the sport has been has been around since the time of the first mountaineers’ way back in the early 1950s. Rock climbing is a great and fun way to spend a day or two in Kathmandu. Let us organize your trip with us.
