Lumbini is a Buddhist pilgrimage site located in the southwestern Terai region of Nepal. It is the place where Lord Buddha - the apostle of peace, profounder of Buddha religion and tradition and the light of Asia was born. Getting to Lumbini evokes a kind of holy sentiment to the millions of Buddhists all over the world – as do the Jerusalem to Christians and Mecca to Muslims. The Lumbini village tour offers the insight into the life of Lord Buddha and the development of Buddhism. Around sixty-two archaeological sites preserve the significance to the life, enlightenment and the death of Buddha. Lumbini, a UNESCO world heritage site consists of numerous temples including Maya Devi temple, Puskarni – the holy pond, Ashok pillar, and many others. Besides, this tour also offers opportunities to explore other cultural diversities.

 DAY 01: ARRIVE KATHMANDU

Upon your arrival in Kathmandu, our Fishtail representative and driver will meet you at the Tribhuvan International Airport and escort you to your designated hotel. The representative will help you to check into your hotel. In the hotel, you will be briefed about your daily activities during the tour.
 
DAY 02: KATHMANDU SIGHTSEEING
Kathmandu valley is the historical and cultural heart of Nepal and has been a popular destination for tourists ever since Nepal opened its doors to visitors. The valley offers you a wonderful mix of Hinduism, Tibetan Buddhism and Western influence. In the morning, after breakfast, you will visit renowned and one of the largest Buddhist monastery - Swoyambhunath Stupa and Kathmandu Durbar Square. After lunch, you will visit Patan Durbar Square. All these are protected by UNESCO as world heritage site. Overnight in Hotel.
 
DAY 03: DRIVE/ FLY KATHMANDU - LUMBINI
Today, in the early morning after breakfast you will be driven to Lumbini, which is 230 km southwest of Kathmandu. The journey will approximately take 5-6 hours on a tourist vehicle. If you wish you can also fly to Bhairahawa which takes around 30 minutes and then get transferred to Lumbini in a private vehicle. 
 
DAY 04: LUMBINI SIGHTSEEING 
Today you will go for a Lumbini tour that includes visit to Mayadevi temple and surrounding areas of Lumbini Development Trust (LDT). The three square mile area of LDT includes Sacred Garden, Monastic Zone and New Lumbini Village.
 
DAY 05: LUMBINI CULTURAL EXPERIENCE
On the day five, you will visit surrounding villages of Lumbini and get an opportunity to explore and observe rural culture. You will have a chance to interact with warm and hospitable local people, buy their authentic handicraft products and observe their traditional rituals. This will definitely bring one closer to understand the cultural diversity of Terai region.
 
DAY 06: VISIT RELIGIOUS AND ARCHEOLOGICAL SITES OF KAPILAVASTU
Today you will proceed to religious and archeological sites of Kapilavastu including Tilaurakot, Gotihawa, Kudan, Siddharthanagar, Niglihara, and Sagarhawam Aurorakot. Tilaurakot is the ancient Kapilabastu - the capital of Shakya. Kudan was where Buddha was received by his father after his access to enlightenment. Gotihawa is the birth place of Krakuchanda Buddha. Niglihawa is where Kanakmuni Buddha was born. Sagarhawa houses the archeological findings commonly known as "place of the Massacre of the Shakyas".
 
DAY 07: VISIT DEVDAHA AND RAMGRAM
After breakfast you will proceed for an excursion to religious and archeological sites at Devdaha and Ramgram. Devdaha is the ancient capital of the Koliya kingdom. It is the maternal hometown of Queen Mayadevi (mother of Lord Buddha), Prajapati Gautami (step-mother of Lord Buddha), Princess Yasodhara (consort of Lord Buddha) and it is said that Prince Siddhartha had spent his childhood there. Ramgram is famous for the brick mound on the bank of the Jharahi River. The brick Stupa is seven meters high consisting of relic (one of the eight astha dhatu) of Lord Buddha. The Stupa was built by the King of Ramgrama, who was the eighth king to obtain the Buddha's relics.
 
DAY 08: DRIVE/ FLY LUMBINI - KATHMANDU
After finishing the cultural and historical tour of Lumbini, you will be either driven to Kathmandu or you have an option to fly to Kathmandu. Upon reaching Kathmandu, the entire day in the capital is free for some shopping and relaxation.
 
DAY 09: DEPARTURE
After checking out of the hotel, our representative will take you to the Tribhuvan International Airport for your flight towards onward destination. If you want to continue your stay in Nepal for short tours i.e. National parks, rafting, mountain biking, hiking, etc., please do let us know. We will be proudly serving your needs.
