Mount Lhotse is the fourth highest mountain in the world with an elevation of 8,516m.Lhotse, which means "South peak" is a part of the Everest massif, just to the south of Everest. The peak was first climbed by Swiss climbers, Mr. Ernst Reiss and Mr. Fritz Luchsinger in 1956 via western face route. However, the primary route to Lhotse is via Everest's South Col.
 
Mount Lhotse expedition is one of the most challenging expeditions in Nepal. The expedition is technically challenging and requires solid climbing skills and experience. An impressive ring of three peaks makes up the Lhotse massif: Lhotse East or Middle, Lhotse & Lhotse Shar. The South Face of Lhotse is one of the largest mountain faces in the world which is the main target of the expedition.

Day 01: Arrive Kathmandu
Upon your arrival in Kathmandu, our Fishtail representative and driver will meet you at the Tribhuvan International Airport and escort you to your designated hotel. The representative will help you to check into your hotel. In the hotel, you will be briefed about your daily activities during the expedition.
 
Day 02: In Kathmandu (Briefing and preparation for expedition)
Today you will be preparing everything for Everest expedition including all the necessary equipment and clothes, which are quintessential for the trip. In addition, you can also visit Ministry of Tourism or Nepal Tourism board for further information about the expedition.
 
Day 03: Fly to Lukla (2,850m) and trek to Phakding (2,620m)
In the early morning, after breakfast, you will board a flight to Lukla and a landing on a steep mountain runway brings you to the start of your trek at the village of Lukla. From Lukla, you will head up the Dudh Koshi Valley on a well-marked trail and will be accommodated in a local lodge in Phakding.
 
Day 04: Trek to Namche (3,440m)
Leaving Phakding, you will cross the river twice through high suspension bridges and arrive at Monjo – the entrance to the Sagarmatha National Park which was set-up in order to protect and preserve the fragile mountain environment. From here, you will follow the path to reach Namche Bazaar, which is the major trading village in entire Khumbu region. If the weather is clear, you will get the first glimpse of Everest from this point.
 
Day 05: Acclimatization at Namche
Today you will spend your entire day in Namche by taking complete rest in order to acclimatize to gain altitude, plan for forthcoming trips and get habituated to your trekking destinations. You can also visit Khunde Hospital which was set up by Sir Edmund Hillary and Everest View Hotel for sunset view of Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse and Ama Dablam.
 
Day 06: Trek to Thyangboche (3,800m)
This day, you will walk along the trail that follows the path to the side of the valley, high above the Dudh Koshi River.  You will get to see somegreat views of great peaks of the Khumbu region including Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse and Ama Dablam. As you move downwards, you will pass through several Sherpa villages and teashops and continue the hike to reach Thyangboche by following a zigzag path. The path offers awesome sights of Rhododendron bushes with beautiful birds and superb mountain scenery. Finally, you will reach Thyangboche, which is famous for its legendary monastery, the largest in the Khumbu region.
 
Day 07: Trek to Pheriche (4,371m)
Today, you will be descending downhill from Thyangboche through the forests and by crossing the Imja Khola. The trail then follows the uphill path to the village of Pangboche, which faces Mount Ama Dablam. Joy of the trek will be further escalated by the views of mountains, forests, gompas, rivers etc. Further two hours of walk will take you to your last destination, i.e., Pheriche for today.
 
Day 08: Rest day in Pheriche
After the continuous walk for seven days, you will be taking a complete rest today. You will spend your entire day in Pheriche resting in order to acclimatize to gain altitude, plan for forthcoming trips and get habituated to your trekking destinations. However, if you want, you can climb up onto the ridge overlooking Mount Lhotse and Imja Valley.
 
Day 09: Trek to Lobuche (4,940m)
Leaving Pheriche, you will trek uphill to Lobuche and have to pass through a wide valley, Khumbu glacier and several teahouses in between. Besides, the trail also offers magnificent views of Cholatse and Tawache.
 
Day 10: Trek to Everest Base Camp (5,364m)
A very early start is required to reach the Everest Base Camp. It takes several hours as the trail weaves its way through ice pinnacles and past the crevasses of the Khumbu Glacier. On the return leg, you can take a higher route to get a spectacular view of the Khumbu icefall and the route to the South Col.
 
Day 11 - 38: Climbing period of Mount Lhotse (8,516m)
These days are the major climbing days for you to make an ascent of mostly awaited summit of Lhotse. After few days of acclimatization and exercises, you will be taken to the higher camp, closer to the summit where you will be provided with food for high altitude. You are allowed to trek from lower to upper camp or vice versa for more practice and acclimatization. Finally, we wish for your success to conquer the summit. 
 
Day 39:  Base Camp Cleanup and trek down to Pheriche (4,371m)
This day you will clean your base camp and trek back to Pheriche.
 
Day 40: Trek to Namche (3,440m)
From Pheriche, your journey will continue towards Namche. The trail will take you across rivers and rhododendron forests. 
 
Day 41: Trek to Lukla (2,850m)
This will be the final day of the trek and the ultimate destination is Lukla. The path goes along side the Dudh Koshi to reach Lukla. Upon reaching Lukla in the evening, you will have time to enjoy local drinks with a company of Sherpa guides and porters.
 
Day 42:  Fly back to Kathmandu
After breakfast, you will check in to the airport to fly back to Kathmandu. Upon reaching the Kathmandu airport, your guide will transfer you to the designated hotel. In the evening, you have free time for refreshments and shopping.
 
Day 43:  Free day in Kathmandu
Today will be an extra day for relaxing and enjoying Kathmandu. You can go for shopping, body massaging and spa treatments or sightseeing. 
 
Day 44:  Depart Kathmandu
After checking out of the hotel, our representative will take you to the international airport for your flight home. If you want to continue your stay in Nepal for short tours i.e. National parks, rafting, mountain biking, hiking, etc., please do let us know. We will be proudly serving your needs.
