Kanchenjunga Trek is one of the unexplored superb adventurous, marvelous and irregular touristic trekking regions in Nepal. This trek approaches to the south and north Base Camp of the third highest peak on the planet, Mt. Kanchenjunga with an elevation of 8586m. Geographically located along the Nepal-India border in the Himalayas, Mt. Kanchenjunga is regarded as one of the most challenging peaks to climb. Until 1852, Kanchenjunga was assumed to be the highest mountain in the world.

This trek boasts of varied ecological zones ranging from subtropical land to glacial wilderness. Mighty Kanchenjunga glacier is the most famous attraction of Kanchenjunga. Great valleys, encircled by high peaks, are another features of the trek.

Many people have described the Kanchenjunga trek as the finest trekking route in Nepal. It is a long trek going deep into the remote mountain ranges on Nepal’s border with Sikkim and Tibet. The trail explores the area around Kanchenjunga where you can see a wide range of scenery from lush, tropical jungles to Rhododendron, Chestnut and Oak forests and into the alpine zone at higher altitudes. You can witness a range of Nepalese cultures and life-styles from Rai and Limbus to Tibetan Buddhist villages.

Day 01: Arrive Kathmandu
Upon your arrival in Kathmandu, our Fishtail representative and driver will meet you at the Tribhuvan International Airport and escort you to your designated hotel. The representative will help you to check into your hotel. In the hotel, you will be briefed about your daily activities during the trek.

Day 02: Sightseeing in Kathmandu
Kathmandu valley is the historical and cultural heart of Nepal and has been a popular destination for tourists ever since Nepal opened its doors to visitors. The valley offers you a wonderful mix of Hinduism, Tibetan Buddhism and Western influence. In the morning, after breakfast, you will be guided to visit renowned and one of the largest Hindu temple of Pashupatinath, Bouddha Stupa and Swoyambhunath. After lunch, you will be visiting Kathmandu Durbar Square and Patan Durbar Square.

Day 03: Fly to Biratnagar 
Today after breakfast, you will board a flight to Biratnagar. Even during the entire flight, you can enjoy panoramic sights of great Himalayas of Nepal including Mt. Everest (8,848m), Mt. Makalu (8,463m), Mt. Cho Oyu (8153m), Mt. Lhotse (8,501m), Mt. Lhotse Shar (8,393m), Kanchenjunga, Gaurishankar, Ganesh, Langtang etc. Upon reaching Biratnagar you will be preparing for the forthcoming journey.

Day 04 Fly to Sukhetar, trek to Lali Kharka
This day you will again take a short 30-40 minutes flight to Sukhetar. Upon reaching Sukhetar, you will hike around the Sukhetar village and after some refreshments; you will head to Lali Kharka with the trekking crew. The trail will be accompanied by rich pastures and pristine settlements. After several descents for 2 – 3 hours, you will finally arrive at Lali Kharka.

Day 05 Trek to Keswa
From your camp in Lali Kharka, you will be able to see the entire day of walk right in your front. After traversing the hillside for a short distance, you will descend to the village of Pokara on the Phawa Khola and then cross a suspension bridge before beginning the steep climb towards Kunjari. The afternoon's walk will then take you up over the crest of the ridge to your campsite at Keswa. From Keswa, you will get your first view of Mt. Kanchenjunga along with Mt. Yulung and other Himalayas as well

Day 06: Trek to Mamanke
From Keswa you will trek through pleasant terraced fields and traverse a steep mountainside high above the Kabeli Khola. Continuing the journey, you will then cross several villages like Funfun and continue along a shady path to Apan.  During today’s trekking you will get to see first distant view of Jannu (7710m), one of the most impressive peaks in the region. Eventually we will reach the prosperous village of Mamanke.

Day 07: Trek to Yamphudin
After having breakfast in the early morning at the camp, your trek begins with an easy climb towards Yamphudin. The trail goes through hillside above the Kabeli Khola; ridges and streambeds. Along the way, you can stop to bathe in one of the many clear pools in this beautiful river. Our ultimate destination for the day will be Yamphudin, which is the most remote settlement in this region.

Day 08: Trek to Lamite Jungle camp
Leaving Yamphudin, the trail ascends to cross the Omje Khola. You will walk through a beautiful Leaving Yamphudin, the trail ascends to cross the Omje Khola. You will walk through a beautiful and dense forest from where you can have fine views of the valley beyond Yamphudin to the south and of the Omje Khola Valley and Deorali Danda to the north. A steep descent to the river will bring you to your campsite in Lamite forest.

Day 09: Trek to Torontan
From the Lamite Jungle camp, you will ascend steeply for three hours through dense forests to the crest of the Deorali Danda, which is a best destination to catch a glimpse of Mt. Jannu. Moving ahead, you will then descend to the valley of Simbua Khola and upon crossing the bridge you will arrive at Torontan.

Day 10:  Trek to Tseram
In the early morning after having breakfast at the camp, you will follow the path of right ank of the river and the path passes through the pine and rhododendron forests. From here, you will have to make a steep climb to reach Tseram which offers you the stunning views of snow capped Himalayas and massive muzzle of Yalung glacier.

Day 11: Trek to Ramche
Today you will be trekking for relatively shorter period of time. As you ascend you can see clear sights of Yalung glaciers, series of ablation valley, Kokthan, Rothong and Kabru.

Day 12: Ramche - Exploration 
Today will be a rest day at Ramche. However, if you want, you can hike around Ramche. From Ramche, you can see your first close encounter with Kanchenjunga and Khumbakarna Glacier flowing from the east face of Jannu. Then you will return to your campsite at Ramche.

Day 13 Trekking beyond the Mirgin La
Leaving your Ramche campsite, you will trek down the valley, passing the small settlement of Lapsang, before turning towards the Mirgin La - the pass you must cross in order to reach Gunsa and the north side of Kanchenjunga. As you will descend from the Mirgin La, the views of Mt. Jannu will accompany you with its simply magnificent views.

Day 14: Trek to Gunsa
Today you will have to make a steep but easy descent from your campsite that brings you to Lamba Sumba Kharka, which offers more splendid views of the awesome southwest face of Jannu. The trail descends on an excellent route to the village of Gunsa.

Day 15: Trek to Kyapra
From Gunsa, you will trek up to Kyapra that passes through the beautiful Gunsa and Tamur Kholas, spectacular forests of rhododendron, conifer, birch and oak. The valley sides here are steep and the trail follows the river as it cascades downwards. You pass through Kyapra, the last of the Tibetan villages.

Day 16: Trek to Sakathum
Heading for the village of Sakathum, your route follows an undulating trail for the first couple of hours until you reach Amjilasa. From here, there is a long steep descent from where you can see the Gunsa Khola Valley stretched out before you.

Day 17: Trek to Chirwa
Leaving Sakathum, you will head towards Chirwa. On the way to Chirwa, you will come across the confluence of two rivers – Simbua Khola and Gunsa Khola at Tamur Kosi. On the way, we will come across several other small tributary streams. After trekking for about 4 – 5 hours, you will enter the pristine village of Chirwa.

Day 18: Trek to Phurumba
Today you will be following the path to Phurumba by crossing the cultivated land and rich pastures. Then your trail weaves through the path of steep stones. After making a climb for about four hours, you will reach the destination for the day, i.e., valley of Phurumba.

Day 19: Trek to Taplejung - Suketar
From Phurumba, you will move towards Taplejung village by following ascending path for about three hours. Upon reaching Taplejung, you will be able to observe and explore the traditional village life, cultural richness, and custom of local people. After leisurely ascents for another two more hours, you will finally reach the airstrip at Suketar where you will conclude the trip of the day.

Day 20: Fly to Biratnagar and fly to Kathmandu via Biratnagar 
After breakfast, you will check in to the airport to board a flight to Biratnagar and then again take a flight to Kathmandu. Upon reaching the Kathmandu airport, your guide will transfer you to the designated hotel. In the evening, you have free time for refreshments and shopping.

Day 21: Depart Kathmandu
After checking out of the hotel, our representative will take you to the international airport for your flight home. If you want to continue your stay in Nepal for short tours i.e. National parks, rafting, mountain biking, hiking, etc., please do let us know. We will be proudly serving your needs.
