Everest Base Camp Trek via Lukla

Everest Base Camp (EBC) Trek via Lukla is the most popular route to reach EBC. Located in the Khumbu region of Nepal, this trek has been a very popular destination for trekkers and tourists ever since the first expedition to the Nepalese side of Mount Everest in 1953. It is famous for its spectacular mountain peaks accompanied by the loyalty and friendliness of its inhabitants (the Sherpas).The main attraction of the trek is Mount Everest (8,848m), which is the highest peak of the planet. 

The trek begins from Lukla and the journey continues through Namche Bazaar to EBC. The total duration of the journey is 16 days.

 DAY 01: ARRIVE KATHMANDU

Upon your arrival in Kathmandu, our Fishtail representative and driver will meet you at the Tribhuvan International Airport and escort you to your designated hotel. The representative will help you to check into your hotel. In the hotel, you will be briefed about your daily activities during the trek.
 
DAY 02: KATHMANDU SIGHTSEEING 
Kathmandu valley is the historical and cultural heart of Nepal and has been a popular destination for tourists ever since Nepal opened its doors to visitors. The valley offers you a wonderful mix of Hinduism, Tibetan Buddhism and Western influence. In the morning, after breakfast, you will visit renowned and one of the largest Hindu temple of Pashupatinath, Bouddhanath Stupa, and Swoyambhunath Stupa. After lunch, you will visit Kathmandu Durbar Square and Patan Durbar Square.
 
Day 03: FLY KATHMANDU - LUKLA (2,850m) & TREK TO PHAKDING (2,610m)
In the early morning, you will board a flight to Lukla and a landing on a steep mountain runway brings you to the start of your trek at the village of Lukla (2850m). Even during the entire flight, you can enjoy panoramic sights of great Himalayas of Nepal including Everest (8,848m), Makalu (8,463m), Cho Oyu (8,153m), Lhotse (8,501m), Lhotse Shar (8,393m), Kanchenjunga, Gaurishankar, Ganesh, Langtang etc. From Lukla, you will head up the Dudh Koshi Valley on a well-marked trail and will be accommodated in a local lodge in Phakding.
 
Day 04: TREK TO NAMCHE BAZAAR (3,440m)
Leaving Phakding, you will be crossing the river twice through high suspension bridges and arrive at Monjo – the entrance to the Sagarmatha National Park which was set-up in order to protect and preserve fragile mountainous environment. From here, you will follow the path to reach Namche, which is the major trading village in entire Khumbu region. If the weather is clear, you will get the first glimpse of Everest from this point.
 
Day 05: REST DAY IN NAMCHE BAZAAR
Today you will spend your entire day in Namche by taking complete rest in order to acclimatize to gain altitude, plan for forthcoming trips and get habituated to your trekking destinations. 
 
Day 06: TREK TO THYANGBOCHE (3,860m)
This day, from Namche, the trail follows the path to the side of the valley, high above the Dudh Koshi River.  You will get to see some great views of peaks of Khumbu region including Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse and Ama Dablam. As you move downwards, you will pass through several Sherpa villages and teashops. The path offers awesome sights of Rhododendron bushes with beautiful birds and superb mountain scenery. Finally, you will reach Thyangboche, which is famous for its legendary monastery, the largest in the Khumbu region.
 
Day 07: TREK TO PHERICHE (4,371m) 
Today, you will be descending downhill from Thyangboche through the forests and crossing Imja Khola. The trail then follows the uphill path to the village of Pangboche which faces Mount Ama Dablam (6,856m). Joy of the trek will be further escalated by views of mountains, forests, gompas, rivers etc. Further two hours of walk will take you to your last destination for today.
 
Day 08: REST DAY IN PHERICHE
Today you will spend your entire day in Pheriche resting in order to acclimatize to gain altitude, plan for forthcoming trips and get habituated to your trekking destinations. However, if you want, you can climb up onto the ridge overlooking Mount Lhotse and Imja Valley.
 
Day 09: TREK TO LOBUCHE (4,910m)
Leaving Pheriche, you will trek uphill to Lobuche and have to pass through a wide valley, Khumbu glacier and several teahouses in between. Besides, the trail also offers magnificent views of Cholatse and Tawache.
 
Day 10: TREK TO GORAK SHEP (5,164m)
Your last destination for today will be Gorak Shep, base for the Everest Base Camp. To reach Gorak Shep you will have to pass Kalapatthar and Khumbu glaciers. 
 
Day 11: TREK TO EVEREST BASE CAMP (5,364m) & TREK TO GORAK SHEP (5,164m)
A very early start is required to reach the Everest Base Camp. It takes several hours as the trail weaves its way through ice pinnacles and crevasses of the Khumbu Glacier. On the return leg, you can opt to take a higher route to get a spectacular view of the Khumbu Ice-fall and South Col. 
 
Day 12: TREK TO PANGBOCHE (3,985m)
Today you need to walk downhill. Couple of hours of walk will take you to Himalayan Rescue Association (HRA). From there, you will continue the journey and pass Khumbu Khola, Imja Khola and the suspension bridge before arriving at Pangboche.
 
Day 13: TREK TO NAMCHE BAZAAR (3,440m)
From Pangboche, your journey will continue towards Namche. The trail will take you across rivers and rhododendron forests amidst the views of Tawache, Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, Kantega and Thamserku mountains.
 
Day 14: TREK TO LUKLA (2,850m)
This will be the final day of the trek and the ultimate destination is Lukla. The path goes along the Dudh Koshi River. Upon reaching Lukla in the evening, you will have time to enjoy local drinks with a company of Sherpa guides and porters.
 
Day 15: FLY LUKLA - KATHMANDU
After breakfast, you will check in to the Lukla airport to fly back to Kathmandu. Upon reaching the Kathmandu airport, your guide will transfer you to the designated hotel. In the evening, you have free time for refreshments and shopping.
 
Day 16: DEPART KATHMANDU
After checking out of the hotel, our representative will take you to the international airport for your flight towards onward destination. If you want to continue your stay in Nepal for short tours i.e. National parks, rafting, mountain biking, hiking, etc., please do let us know. We will be proudly serving your needs.
