Jiri Everest Base Camp Trek

Printer Version Page

The Jiri Everest Base Camp Trek is one of the longest classical routes to reach Everest Base Camp (EBC). The route was constructed even before Lukla airport was built. Nevertheless, this route is still popular among trekkers and serves as an alternate route to reach EBC rather than going from Lukla. The trail is renowned for its natural and socio-cultural diversities.
The trail offers a wonderful opportunity to explore the natural beauty of Dolakha and Solukhumbhu districts. On the way, trekkers will be captivated by stunning views of the Himalayas, lush green jungles, lakes, glaciers, waterfalls and the fertile valleys. During this classic trek, one can enjoy the panoramic vistas of Himalayas including Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Amadablam, Pumori, Thamserku etc. Furthermore, as you walk through the paths of these trails, you will come across different cultures of the Sherpa society, the original inhabitants of this area. The trail connects Jiri (popularly known as Switzerland of Nepal), Namche and other villages as well.
However, the trek is extensive (23 days) and costly as well. Hence, it is recommended to those trekkers only who have experiences of high altitude and lengthy treks.
