Standing at an altitude of 6,654m, Mera Peak is one of the most popular trekking destinations of Nepal and lies in an adventurous heartland of Khumbu region. Mera peak’s popularity is increasing each year due to extraordinary scenic mountains. Another outstanding feature of this trek is Hinku valley which is known for its wildest yet beautiful features allowing us to sample a true 'wilderness experience' en route to Mera. 

Mera Peak climbing takes the trekkers into Gokyo Lake (4,750m), Everest Base Camp (5,357m), Kalapatthar (5,545m) and GokyoRi (5,357m). Furthermore, the climbing crosses two important high passes of the Khumbu region i.e. Chola Pass (5,420m) and Kongma La Pass (5,535m). The peak also offers wonderful opportunity to capture magnificent close-up views of great Himalayas including five of the world’s highest mountains, i.e., Mount Everest (8,848m), Mount Makalu (8,463m), Mount Cho Oyu (8,153m), Mount Lhotse (8,501m) and Mount Lhotse Shar (8,393m).

DAY 01: ARRIVE KATHMANDU
Upon your arrival in Kathmandu, our Fishtail representative and driver will meet you at the Tribhuvan International Airport and escort you to your designated hotel. The representative will help you to check into your hotel. In the hotel, you will be briefed about your daily activities during the trek.
 
DAY 02: SIGHTSEEING IN KATHMANDU
Kathmandu valley is the historical and cultural heart of Nepal and has been a popular destination for tourists ever since Nepal opened its doors to visitors. The valley offers you a wonderful mix of Hinduism, Tibetan Buddhism and Western influence. In the morning, after breakfast, you will be guided to visit renowned and one of the largest Hindu temple of Pashupatinath, Bouddhanath Stupa and Swoyambhunath Stupa. After lunch, you will be visiting Kathmandu Durbar Square and Patan Durbar Square.
 
DAY 03: FLY TO LUKLA (2,850m) AND TREK TO CHUTANGA (3,173m)
In the early morning, after breakfast, you will board a flight to Lukla and a landing on a steep mountain runway brings you to the start of your trek at the village of Lukla. Upon landing at Lukla, you will head towards Chutanga where you will be accommodated for the day.
 
DAY 04: TREK TO ZATRABUK (4,704m)
Today your trek will begin from Chutanga leading to Zatrawala Pass (4,610m) and will finally end at Zatrabuk. You will trek steep ascending path to cross Zatrawala Pass. From this point, you can enjoy spectacular views of Numbur Himal, Kongdi Ri, Karyolang peak and many other mountains. Continuing the journey, you will walk along the leveled trail for almost one and half hours and then the trail will turn downhill to Zatrabuk. 
 
DAY 05: TREK TO KOTHE (3,555m)
From Zatrabuk you will follow the steep descending path to reach Kothe. On the way, you will come across forests of juniper and rhododendron, and spectacular views of Mera peak, Nauleku peak etc.
 
DAY 06: TREK TO TANGNANG (4,356m)
Leaving Kothe, your journey will make a gradual ascent towards Tangnang by following the trail across Hinku Valley (4,600m). You will trek along the bank of the river accompanied by bushes on both the sides. Moreover, you can also enjoy views of Kusum Kanguru peak and many others.
 
DAY 07: ACCLIMATIZATION DAY IN TANGNANG 
Today you will spend your entire day in Tangnang resting in order to acclimatize to gain altitude, plan for forthcoming trips and get habituated to your trekking destinations. However, if you want, you can immerse yourself in beautiful views of peaks and glaciers surrounding the head of the Hinku Valley.
 
DAY 08: TREK TO DIG KHARKA (4,659m)
Today you will proceed to Dig Kharka, which is a pleasant grassy place. You will walk towards the mountain as the trail swings to the east and will gradually gain height until you find yourself at Dig Kharka, which is very close to the foot of Hinku Nup Glacier. 
 
DAY 09: TREK TO KHARE (5,100m)
This day will be an important and memorable day in your life, as you will climb above 5,000m for the first time in this trip. Your trekking trail goes up to Khare with frequent stops in between to soak into the incredible surroundings. The trail heads eastward out of Tangnag along with the lateral moraine of the Dig Glacier. You will pause in between to climb up the moraine for a view of the pristine Sabai Tso glacial lake. At Khare, the northern face of Mera Peak and Mera glacier spilling steeply down into the valley can be seen.
 
DAY 10: ACCLIMATIZATION DAY IN KHARE (5,100m)
Today you will spend your entire day in Khare taking complete rest acclimatizing to gain altitude, planning for forthcoming trips and getting habituated to your trekking destinations. 
 
DAY 11: TREK TO MERA LA PASS (5,350m)
As you make your way to the Mera La Pass, firstly, you will trek for a short distance, slowly ascending up onto Mera glacier. Then you will traverse a long flat path on top of the glacier. This spot offers stunning views of crevasse fields gently stretching out in front of the pass; ring of jagged peaks and blue-green glaciers. Remaining route up to the summit of Mera Peak is also clearly visible from here.
 
DAY 12: TREK TO MERA PEAK HIGH CAMP (5,800m)
This day, you will gradually ascend throughout the path. As you move along, you will see that the area is covered by ice glacier amidst the backdrop of Everest, Makalu, Baruntse, Kusum Kanguru and several other mountains. Moreover, you will be fascinated by the magnificent views of Mera Glacier.
 
DAY 13: CLIMB HIGH CAMP (5,800m)
High Camp is located at about 5,800 metres on the northern slopes of the upper mountain. It provides an excellent launch pad for the final climb to the summit. Having crossed the Mera La, the route turns left (south) and follows an easy angled snow slopes. After a short distance, an area of crevasses will be reached. The crevasses soon give way to slightly steeper but open snow slopes that lead to the high camp without any difficulty. This camp is in an excellent setting for wonderful views of Everest, Makalu, Nuptse and Lhotse just in front of you. In addition, the setting sun casts an unbelievably magical light to these awesome mountains.
 
DAY 14: SUMMIT MERA PEAK (6,476m) AND RETURN TO KHARE (5,100m)
Today marks another important and an adventurous day because you will reach the summit of the Mera Peak. Upon conquering the peak, you will return to Khare where you will camp for the night. The climb to the summit starts gradually and depends largely on snow and general weather conditions. Mera actually has three summits; the highest one being your target. You will reach the summit by following a classic snow-ridge just below the final wall that guards the top. This short steep snow slope can be easily climbed but huge effort is required to climb last 50 meters. You will be rewarded with ecstatic jubilation as you survey the magnificent panorama from the top. After taking pictures and enjoying the view, you will descend following the same route back to your campsite below the Mera La.
 
DAY 15: TREK TO KOTHE (3,555m)
The journey from Khare to Kothe approximately takes about eight hours. You will walk along the gradual descending path passing through Tangnang, a small village where you can find yak settlement. You will follow the similar kind of path to reach Kothe from Tangnang. The journey will be accompanied by forests covered with fir, rhododendron and local vegetation.
 
DAY 16: TREK TO ZATRABUK (4,704m)
Trek from Kothe to Zatrabuk will take around six hours. The trail goes steeply up all the way to Zatrabuk passing through forests and green hills.
 
DAY 17: TREK TO CHUTANGA (3,173m)
Today the journey to Chutanga will take about five hours. You will have to follow the descending rocky path passing through beautiful forests of rhododendron, oak etc.
 
DAY 18: TREK TO LUKLA (2,850m)
This will be the final day of the trek and the ultimate destination is LuklaThe trail you will walk along moves downhill all the way to Lukla. 
 
DAY 19: FLY TO KATHMANDU
After having breakfast, you will check in to the airport to fly back to Kathmandu. Upon reaching the Kathmandu airport, your guide will transfer you to the designated hotel. In the evening, you have free time for refreshments and shopping.
 
DAY 20: DEPART KATHMANDU
After checking out of the hotel, our representative will take you to the Tribhuvan international airport for your flight home. If you want to continue your stay in Nepal for short tours i.e. National parks, rafting, mountain biking, hiking, etc., please do let us know. We will be proudly serving your needs.
